The Pennan Inn is microcosmic of both the little coastal village it’s nestled in and the people who live in this picturesque village. The service here is warm and courteous. The innkeepers are extremely hospitable and Peter is a terrific chef as well. I’ve eaten some of the best meals in my life here at the Pennan Inn. Be it the steak or the Thai Green Curry (or my personal favourite, the Beef Stroganoff), the Pennan Inn raises the bar when it comes to modern classics. I left Pennan carrying with me the many memories of the scenery, the people, the food and the warmth I felt even in blustery conditions. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you Peter & Diane for everything.

Lovely place, beautiful location and views, fantastic food at the restaurant in the evenings along with a cosy bar. (Recommend booking/ checking opening times to avoid disappointment). The owner Peter made us feel really welcome and all the staff were lovely. Hope to come back again one day! Thanks again!

The Pennan Inn is the only pub/restaurant in Pennan Bay, a small but beautiful ex fishing village of approx 50 houses built on the sea front on the east coast of Scotland in Aberdeenshire. Pennan is also famous as the venue for the 1983 film Local Hero. The Pennan Inn was the focal point. The Inn no longer offers accommodation but is run very well as a pub/ restaurant that opens 5 nights pw. Wed-Sun. The location is right on the water front, which is so scenic, peaceful, and with spectacular views across the ocean and Pennan Head. There is free parking once you have navigated your way down a very steep winding single track road, which is well signposted from the main road. There's a set menu that would suit all tastes and requirements. The portions were generous, and the wine list was good. Meals are served from 5.30- 8.30pm in the dining room, which has about 6-7 tables. You have to book in advance. There were 2 of us, and we both had the hot smoked salmon to start with. Delicious 😋 This was followed by 1 haddock and chips and 1 sea bass with crushed potatoes and vegetables. Afsin delicious. There was no room for dessert, so I couldn't comment, but the options looked great. The meal with wine cost £90. Service was excellent by a very friendly and we presented waitress. The chef also came out and spoke to us about the Inn. You can see him cooking all the food if you want. There's a nicely stocked bar and a good selection of whiskeys if that's your tipple. There is also on sale a few Pennan souvenirs. Children are welcome. The venue is wheelchair friendly, and there is seating outside right on the beach front. We were fortunate in being there on a sunny summer evening, so to us, this was a perfect night out. Highly recommend

Prachtige plek, heel gastvrij en super lekker eten. Gezellig barretje. En fantastisch mooi uitzicht vanuit onze kamer aan de zeekant. Hele vriendelijke hoteleigenaar en bediening. Echt een aanrader 😊

We didn’t stay at the Inn overnight, but popped in for dinner and WOW!! Not only was the service amazing, but the food was phenomenal. I got the fillet, and every combination with the various sides was incredible. There was nothing left on the plate :). If you happen to be stopping by on a friday/saturday night, it’s very well worth it to make a reservation and swing by this cozy local spot. You won’t regret it!

Pennan village is a tiny and quiet. If you are sucker for beaches, sky and cliffs it's worth visiting once. I would recommend to use the own car as the public transport is not very frequent.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pennan Inn B&B very much. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful and make you feel really comfortable. We highly appreciated the continental breakfast they offered. Pennan is a beautiful place, very close to the sea and the nature. We would love to stay there again. The jewellery alone that Monika makes are worth the stay!

The view is spectacular, seeing the aurora is super. But the rooms are a bit drafty. Otherwise full 5 star.

Lovely rustic Inn set in a delightfully quaint and picturesque traditional fishing village. The Inn was comfy and cosy. The hosts attentive to detail. They made a special effort to meet unannounced dietary needs. I gave it just four stars because of the restricted reception, bar and breakfast times. I also felt that the lack of nearby restaurants made the Inn’s accessibility that much harder.

Popped in for a drink two of the nights we were staying nearby. Incredibly warm and welcoming owners. Gave lots of information about the place and the gallery is worth a visit too, stunning photos.

An experience I will never forget. The location is magical and wonderfully remote. A chance to get away from it all. Monica and Roland, the hosts are a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble for them.
